SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN was announced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 15th August 2014 on the eve of Independence Day. “Swachh Bharat” as a mass movement to realize Mahatma Gandhiji’s dream of a CLEAN INDIA. He has desired that a nation-wide campaign be organized with the participation of all sections of society to bring about mass awareness and a lasting behavioural change to achieve this goal.

Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India and Forest & Environment Department, Government of Odisha assigned Centre for Environmental Studies (CES) to conduct different activities on Swachh Bharat.

In this context, Centre for Environmental Studies observed “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” at various schools of Odisha to create awareness among the students/teachers as well as the society. CES has also conducted some Beach Cleaning and Riverfront Cleaning Programme at different places of Odisha.
